Louis’ Journey: From Sociology Graduate to Full-Time Site Engineer

Louis came to Engtec with a strong academic background, having earned a degree in Sociology and Anthropology, and was working as a groundsman at a well-known rugby club. With no prior experience in the construction industry, he took a bold step into a completely new field by enrolling on the ProQual Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Surveying.

During his time on the course, Louis was given the opportunity to work part-time as an Assistant Site Engineer, gaining valuable on-site experience while continuing his studies. This hands-on exposure, combined with the structured and supportive training from Engtec, allowed him to build both confidence and practical capability.

Since completing the qualification, Louis has transitioned into a full-time role with our sister company, Dextrick Service Providers. He now works as a Site Engineer on live projects across Central London, a testament to how accessible and effective our training is for learners from all backgrounds, even those with no previous construction experience.
